Frequently Asked Questions

What would you recommend registrants bring to the conference?

We recommend bringing a phone, tablet, or laptop for accessing the detailed conference guide, session surveys, and activities our presenters have planned. You should also bring a writing utensil for an interactive activity on the last day of the conference. Temperatures in Richmond will be high, so we also encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle.

Do I need to wear my name badge for the duration of the conference?

Yes, please wear your name badge throughout the entirety of the conference.

I can’t stay for the entire conference. How can I access information on the sessions I missed?

This conference is not being live-streamed or recorded, however, we will be sharing presentation materials on our website after the conference ends. If you are a grantee, join us on Wednesday, August 16, for Grantee Hours and hear attendees share their conference experiences.

What if I didn’t have time to complete my session survey(s)?

There is no time limit on completing these short suveys, as long as they are submitted during the conference. Make note of the session ID (which is shown on the presentation screen) to ensure you are providing feedback on the right session; the URL and QR code are the same for all sessions. Keep in mind that there will also be an overall conference survey shared with you at the end of the conference.

I’m interested in meeting my grant manager. Is there an opportunity for this?

Yes! We are hosting three Grant Manager Help Desk sessions during the conference. If you have a quick JustGrants question, would like to follow up on ongoing award modifications or other issues, or simply want to say ‘hi’ to your BJA grant manager, you can do so in the foyer during set times (see schedule).

What does lunch ‘on your own’ mean?

Please make your own arrangements for lunch. The convention center and nearby restaurants offer a variety of accessible food options. You can find a list here and here

Are there going to be certificates for professional development?

Certificates will not be offered for attending this conference.

Will this be recorded or live-streamed?

No. However, we will make presentation slides available for download when applicable.

What accessibility options will be available at this conference?

The National Center for School Safety is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible event. If you need any accommodations in order to participate fully, please contact schoolsafety@umich.edu.
