Cultural Differences: Who Knew? (School Resource Officer Video Series)

School is a social place where students strive to fit in. Failure to understand and respect the cultural differences in how they look, eat, speak and interact with others can create unnecessary conflicts and ultimately lead to violence. As a School Resource Officer (SRO), you are vital in bridging these differences and creating a climate of inclusion, ultimately making your school a safer and richer place.

In this video, you will learn about some of these cultural differences, associated misconceptions, and ways that you can show students, through your actions, how to accept and embrace differences in others. You can turn on English or Spanish subtitles as you watch.

Series description

School Resource Officers (SROs) are present in many communities across the country. SROs must be youth advocates, educators, and protectors of all students in the schools they serve. This video series helps SROs consider the way students think, how to connect with them, how to break down barriers to communication, and how to become a successful presence in their school.

The SRO video series is produced in partnership with Katherine Schweit, JD at Schweit Consulting and Rocket Media Group.
