An Introduction to Restorative Practices

This video introduction to our guide was created and produced by Lynn Fountain, Production Assistant, and Brent Miller, Training Manager, at the National Center for School Safety.

What are restorative practices and why are some schools opting to implement them? Restorative practices are one set of strategies that may improve school climate, promote student health and wellbeing, lower discipline rates, and reduce racial disparities in schools. These practices are often applied in tandem with other school safety strategies.

This guide allows for any school personnel to learn what restorative practices are, the evidence supporting their success, and considerations for implementing these practices in a school setting.
