Dr. Zimmerman is a Professor in the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education at University of Michigan School of Public Health and the co-director of the University of Michigan Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention. He is the pre-eminent researcher in the field of community and youth empowerment and has expertise in youth violence prevention and positive youth development. Dr. Zimmerman has over 25 years of experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating large initiatives.
